PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Students enrolled in this program complete a total of 166 hours of instruction, combining classroom learning with extensive hands-on laboratory practice. The curriculum focuses on the proper techniques and professional standards required in the field of phlebotomy.
Topics covered include:
- Safe and efficient blood collection methods
- Proper specimen labeling and transportation procedures
- Quality assurance and infection control protocols
- Prevention of bloodborne diseases including HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B
- Legal and ethical responsibilities of healthcare professionals
- Anatomy and physiology related to the circulatory system
- Communication skills and basic medical mathematics
Students also complete 45 hours of lab practice, ensuring they gain real-world experience with venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specimen handling techniques under professional supervision.
